Lena Dowdell

Lena's journey has been marked by a profound dedication to advancing educational excellence, particularly for underserved and underrepresented K-12 youth.

Her extensive experience includes a decade-long tenure at the East Harlem Scholars Academies, where she began as a classroom teacher and ultimately ascended to the role of Deputy Superintendent of Secondary Schools. Throughout her career, Lena has prioritized building strong connections with students, families, staff, and community partners, fostering an environment of collaboration and respect.

Her wealth of knowledge and leadership skills will undoubtedly contribute to the EOC's mission of supporting equitable pathways to and through college.

Lena is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of Dayton, adding to her already impressive academic background, which includes a Master of Science in Childhood Education from Hunter College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre from Kent State University. Additionally, Lena holds various certificates and certifications that further enhance her expertise.
